Emerald Cedars (Thuja occidentalis ‘Smaragd’) are a tried-and-true evergreen favourite for creating beautiful, year-round privacy in the landscape. With their naturally narrow, upright shape and dense, rich green foliage, they’re an easy way to create a living screen, define a property line or add evergreen structure to your garden.

Our Emerald Cedars are container grown, right here in Ontario, so they’re already accustomed to our climate and ready to thrive in Ontario gardens. Hardy, reliable and naturally tidy, they require very little pruning to maintain their classic pyramidal shape and hold their vibrant green colour throughout the seasons.

Plant them in a row for a lush privacy hedge, use them to frame an entrance or add them wherever you need height, structure and four-season colour.

For the best results, plant Emerald Cedars in full sun to part shade in well-drained soil. Water deeply and consistently while plants establish, particularly during hot, dry weather. Mature plants can reach up to 12′ tall and 4′ wide.
