The Lenten Rose is an easy spring blooming perennial for the shady woodland garden. It forms a low mound of leathery evergreen leaves, intricately veined in silvery-grey. Large outfacing single white flowers appear in early spring, gradually ageing to pink then near-red. Avoid doing any pruning other than to remove dead leaves or stems down near the base of the plant.
